Assets pane

details.png

After being filtered through file location, profile type, color space, etc., the resulting assets are shown in the large pane.

  • A visual column shows at a glance what colors are involved in the asset. The colors shown are color-accurate to the colors actually defined by the profile or image. Abstract profiles and device link profiles do not have definable colors and show as black or white.

  • The Type column identifies the asset as:

    • An ICC profile (and which type of ICC profile), or

    • An image (.jpeg, .png, or .tif)

    • A text file (in the form of a .txt, or a .cxf, or similar)

  • The Colorspace column identifies whether the asset works with RGB, CMYK, Lab, or XYZ data, etc.

  • The Size column will list the:

    • Gamut volume if a printer profile

    • Gamut volume if a scanner profile

    • Gamut volume if a monitor profile

    • Number of colors if a named color profile

    • Pixel dimensions if an image

    • Number of color entries if a text file

    • Grid resolution size if abstract or device link profiles

  • The Version column lists the ICC version number when the file is an ICC profile.

  • The Creator column lists the four-letter code identifying the profile creation software that created the profile.

  • The Created column shows the date when the file was created.

  • The dMax column lists the density value for the darkest point in the profile or color list.

Profile Warnings

The Profile Medic is a separate tool in ColorThink that can be invoked to check and repair common problems with ICC profiles. This profile-checking function is automatically running in ColorAssets. In icon before every entry in the name column will indicate if there are warnings or errors found in the files. Using the search feature can bring forth these problem files easily.

  • Any file that has an issue that might be a problem is marked with a yellow Caution triangle. cautionIcon.png For example, a caution triangle will show up next to a profile that has a different internal name from its external (file) name.

  • A file that is not in compliance with ICC specifications will be marked with a red Error icon. IconMiniStop.png

The search bar at the top of the Color Assets window will search for text within the filenames in the Assets pane. Ideas:

  • Set the sources to <all types> and <all spaces>, and search for files containing a particular printer.

  • Likewise, search for all files containing the name of a customer. (All profiles and all images containing the customer’s name will be collected.)

  • Use the search term “warn” to show all files with warnings. cautionIcon.png

  • Use the search term “error” to show all files with errors. IconMiniStop.png

Shortcut keys:

  • Use Cmd/Control + 1 to open the Color Assets Manager

  • Use the spacebar to quickly view details for any item that is highlighted

  • Use Cmd/Control + 3 to open selected assets into the 3D Grapher
