Demo Mode

When ColorThink 4 is run without a license (username & serial number), it runs for an unlimited time in demonstration mode.

When in demo mode you can open all the tools and navigate around anywhere you like. If you try to open any files it will automatically load one of the demonstration profiles, images and/or color lists that are built into the application package.

Licensing and AuthCodes

Licenses can be purchased directly from CHROMiX or from one of our resellers.

Licenses are typically delivered initially as an “AuthCode”, which is a type of coupon, enabling you to register your license and obtain a serial number for your computer platform. Don’t enter the AuthCode into ColorThink’s license dialog as it will have no effect. Once an AuthCode is registered it is no longer needed and cannot be used again.

The username / serial number combination you receive from registration unlocks ColorThink’s functions depending on the level of license you obtained.

Serial numbers for ColorThink 4 begin with “CT4pro…” or “CT4ph..” for the Pro and Photo-level licenses. They might also have the letters “M” and/or “P” immediately following the “pro” or “ph”. These indicate that the license also unlocks the MeasurePack and PrePressPack license modules for functions purchased at the time of the Pro/Photo license. After-sale module upgrades are entered separately.

ColorThink 4 serial numbers also have a trailing “M” or “W” indicating the license is for Macintosh or Windows. Serial numbers can only be used on the platform for which they were created. Moving to another platform will require a cross-grade license or, if you have the need to run on both platforms, cross-platform licenses are available.

Determining Your License Level

In ColorThink 4, select “ColorThink Licensing…” from the ColorThink 4 application menu (on Mac) or the Window menu (on Windows). The various license levels are listed and the ones which are licensed are indicated.

Demo

In demo mode try the software for an unlimited time in a limited demonstration mode that allows trying out the different tools but will restrict opening and graphing to the included demo (SWOP, sRGB) profiles.

Photo

The Photo license level is intended for the photographer to be able to view the gamuts of their images, printers, and displays, organize their files in the Color Assets feature, and measure colors directly into the app using an i1Pro 1, 2, or 3 instrument. A big bonus over the older “ColorThink2” product is the addition of many functions of the Worksheet, allowing the ability to follow the workflow of their images through many profile transforms.

As the Photo-level license is the base-level license for ColorThink, most functions won’t be marked as Photo-level. Suffice to say, unless a function is marked as Demo-only, if it’s not marked with a license level, it will be available for Photo licenses and above.

Pro

The Pro license level has all that the Photo license includes as well as more new features we have been working for years to bring to the industry. View the extensive list of Pro features here. Note that Pro level does not include the MeasPack module or the PrePressPack module.

Add-on modules:

In addition to the licensing levels, additional modules add extra functions.

MeasPack module

The measuring module adds measurement support for all the instruments that we can directly drive in the software. A partial list includes: Barbieri LFP s3 and qb, X-Rite eXact, iO tables, iSis, Myiro-9/ FD-9, Techkon SpectroDens, and the i1 Pro 1, 2 and 3 instruments already supported at the Photo level.

The MeasPack module can be added to both Photo and Pro-level licenses.

PrePressPack module

The PrePressPack adds the ability to work with multi-channel (nColor) profiles throughout the Grapher, Worksheet, Color Assets, etc. Accurately drawing a 3D graph of a multichannel profile is a complicated process made easy by ColorThink, but it is essential for knowing where your gamuts are, what lies inside and out. The PrePressPack also allows you to create ColorCast, devicelink and abstract profiles and includes a powerful white point editor, color patch tuning and more!

The PrePressPack module can only be added to Pro-level licenses. Photo licenses can be upgraded to Pro level, however and then have the PrePressPack module added.

Upgrading Licenses

At CHROMiX we believe in protecting your investment so if you change your mind and want access to more functions in ColorThink 4, there are multiple paths to upgrade your existing license.

The Photo-level license can be upgraded with the MeasurePack upgrade module as well as it can be upgraded to the Pro-level license. The PrePressPack license is only available to the Pro-level license, so upgrading to Pro first (or at the same time), is necessary.

To see your upgrade choices, go to the ColorThink 4 store page and click on Upgrade Choices. Enter your username and serial number information and you’ll see the upgrades available for your license level.
