Moving and Removing Curve

Moving Curve4/+ from one machine to another is fairly straight-forward and consists of two parts: the software and your data.

It's best to transfer the data first, then handle the software, though running the software first does create some of the folder structure for the data.

Your Data

Curve4/+ data is stored in a couple of locations:

On Mac: <your user folder>/Library/Application Support/CHROMiX
On Windows: <your user folder>\AppData\Roaming\CHROMiX

An easy way to link directly to the data location is to open Curve and right-click on any Verification, Calibration or Blend document and select Open File Location. Then navigate up through the parent folders to the CHROMiX folder

Then copy these folders:

  • Mojave Folder.png Curve

    • Contains all of your Curve documents

    • Copy the entire contents to the same location on the new computer

  • Mojave Folder.png Common

    • Contains your target scanning files

    • Copy the entire contents to the same location on the new computer

(If you’re also moving ColorThink 4 (or later) or Maxwell Client, then this step will not need repeating)

Preferences: – Contains your References and some other potentially important data
On Mac: <your user folder>/Library/Preferences/CHROMiX/
On Windows: (same location as above)

Copy the "Curve 4 Prefs" / "Curve + Prefs" file to the same location on the new computer

Curve Software

It's almost always best to just download the most recent version of Curve4/+ directly onto the computer, install it, and then enter your username / serial number to unlock it. Keep in mind, if you upgraded your software with module codes, that you'll need to enter the username / serial number first, then enter the module codes after it launches. Follow the instructions in your original email about entering the upgrade code - then you'll be enabled to the same license level.

After copying the preferences file over to the new computer, for security you'll still be prompted for your username and password on launch.

Launch Curve4/+ and check to make sure your files moved over OK

Once you’re comfortable everything is working properly, remove Curve4/+ from the old computer.

Curve’s Verify, Calibrate and Blend documents contain all the measurements and settings within the single files.  They can be transferred and swapped between different computers and they will repopulate the same way, allowing you to maintain the same document history you had before.
